Central Texas Certification 5/15/2016
I conducted a Track and Sign Certification for Earth Native Wilderness School in Austin Texas from May 14-15, 2016.
We saw the tracks of 24 species, including 11 mammals, 6 birds, 5 herps, and 2 invertebrates. We spent the first day around McKinney Roughs Nature Park where we saw tracks of armadillo, tiny fawn, grasshopper, bobcat, Texas blind snake, mockingbird, and vulture. We were lucky to dodge thunderstorms most of the day, but had to end a little early due to rain.
We spent the second day at a bridge on FM 969 where we saw harvest mouse tracks, nutria tracks, crow tracks, and juvenile turkey (possibly chicken) tracks.
Congratulations to all who attended. I especially want to thank Greg Pleasant who helped out taking answers and shared some of his substantial knowledge with us. A big thanks to Dave Scott for organizing this certification.
