Minnesota Track & Sign Certification 9/8/2024
The Minnesota Wildlife Tracking Project organized a Track and Sign Certification in the Minneapolis area from September 7-8, 2024.
We spent both days at some beautiful state parks in the city. All told, we saw the tracks of 27 species, including 12 mammals, 8 birds, 2 herps, 2 invertebrates, and 3 signs made by people or weather events. Some favorites include beautiful owl tracks, otter tracks, mink tracks, tracks of a deer with a deformed toe, and some exquisite pelican tracks.
A big thanks to Jon Poppele for organizing this certification. Also, thank you to Allison Van Dyk and Maria Wesserlie for assisting.
This was a very skilled group of trackers and a huge pleasure to get to track with and I loved Minneapolis. It’s a great city for tracking with lots of parks and rivers and a great diversity of wildlife.
