Central TX Track & Sign Certification 5/22/2022
The Earth Native Wilderness School organized 2 Track and Sign Certifications around Bastrop, Texas from May 21-22, 2022. Dave Scott was recently certified as an evaluator and ran one of the certifications and I ran the other.
The first day was blazing hot and humid, making conditions pretty difficult. However, we managed to stay in the shade a lot and still found lots of tracks. There were some strong rains Saturday night as a cold front blew through. We spent Sunday under a bridge and enjoyed the cool temperatures. All told, saw the tracks of 25 species, including 14 mammals, 2 birds, and 3 herps, and 6 invertebrates. We found some really beautiful tracks of beaver, river otter, green heron, baby opossum, and turtle claw marks.
A big thanks to Dave Scott of Earth Native Wilderness School for organizing this certification.
