Central TX Track & Sign Certification 5/23/2021
The Earth Native Wilderness School organized a Track and Sign Certification around Bastrop, Texas from May 22-23, 2021.
It poured down rain for most of the weekend, making conditions pretty difficult. However, we managed to find some nice bridges that gave us some protection from the rain and had pretty good tracks. Despite the challenging weather, we saw the tracks of 27 species, including 13 mammals, 6 birds, and 2 herps, and 6 invertebrates. At the end of the second day, the rain paused for just long enough for us to explore some open river banks where we found beautiful tracks of nutria, beaver, river otter, great-blue heron, and an owl.
A big thanks to Dave Scott of Earth Native Wilderness School for organizing and assisting with this certification.
