Los Padres CA Tracker Certification 11/16/2022
On November 15 & 16, I conducted a Track and Sign Certification for the Southwest Wildlife Online Tracking Training group in San Diego, California. Another evaluator, Matt Nelson, happened to be in town and volunteered to co-lead the certification.
We saw the tracks of 32 species, including 18 mammals, 7 birds, 3 herp, 2 invertebrate, and 2 marks left by the weather. We spent the first day at a fantastic and well-known bridge. Day 2 was spent at sites near the Reyes Creek Campground. Among many others great tracks, we we saw tracks and sign of a black bear, mountain lion, flicker, scrub jay, bobcat, and many more! See the photos below.
A big thanks to Bob Ollerton for organizing and assisting with this certification and to Matt Nelson for the fantastic instruction. Also, big congratulations to Jack Harrison for earning his Level 4 certificate! This is the highest level a person can earn at a regular Track & Sign Certification.
