Tracker Certification in El Paso TX 07/27/2009
Certification in El Paso, TX July 27, 2009
The Texas Parks and Wildlife State Parks Division just hosted their first tracker certification in the El Paso area of west Texas. We spent the first day tracking in sand dunes until we couldn’t bear the heat any longer. We had some fantastic tracks of burrowing owls, woodrats, and kangaroo rats. We spent the second day on the Horak Ranch and encountered a good deal of animal sign, scats, and even vulture cough pellets and tracks.
Congratulations to all for a great job. We had many challenging questions and were happy to award five Track and Sign Level I certificates and one Track and Sign Level II certificate.
Thanks to Heidi Bailey and Ciel Evans for the huge help in putting on this certification. Also, thanks to Wanda Olszewski and Misty Sumner for arranging this certification.
